Independent Gubernatorial Candidate Pyle Files By Petition

August 1, 2022, Hiawatha – State Senator Dennis Pyle today submitted a petition to file for Governor. Pyle was accompanied by his wife, Jennifer, and Kathleen Garrison, his running mate for Lt Governor. Five thousand signatures from qualified electors is the necessary number required to qualify for the ballot access. Pyle submitted 8,894 signatures.

Pyle announced his intention to file for Governor on June 7, 2022, following his change of party affiliation earlier this year from Republican to Unaffiliated. Should Pyle successfully qualify, he will join the Republican and Democrat winners of the August 2 primaries.

Senator Pyle stated, “It is very likely historical to have three state senators on the ballot together for governor in the general election. Having served six consecutive sessions with both former Senator Schmidt and former Senator Kelly, my fiscal and social conservative record stands in stark contrast to their liberal voting records, they are two peas in a pod.”

Pyle further added, “Currently, there is no choice for voters. Liberal vs. liberal. When our petition is confirmed, voters will have real choice and definitive contrast. When comparing votes on the issues, I am the conservative choice, without me voters only have liberal choice.”

Pyle’s running mate, Kathleen Garrison stated, “I am confident we have the signatures necessary to gain ballot access. When this is confirmed by the Secretary of State, voters will have a choice between a genuine constitutional conservative, Dennis Pyle, and two well-funded, establishment-endorsed liberals, one a liberal republican and the other a liberal democrat.”

Senator Pyle thanked his petition team, “I am so grateful to the people who carried out the work of gathering signatures. They walked in the rain and the heat. Both Kathleen and I want to say thank you. Without their help and endurance, we could not have accomplished this formidable task. God blessed us with real patriots. It’s obvious how much the Pyle team cares about this state and its people.”

Kathleen Garrison has been a business owner for over 25 years and has worked in the field of law. She is a single mother of (8) children and (6) grandchildren. She currently serves on the Clearwater USD 264 Board of Education. She is an active member of St. Peter’s Schulte Catholic Church. Kathleen is the daughter of Dr. Patrick and Betty (RN) Shea, and was raised in Cheney, KS.

Pyle is a fourth-generation grain and livestock farmer. He and his wife Jennifer have been married for 42 years and have (6) daughters, (5) sons-in-law and (12) grandchildren. They reside north of Hiawatha on their family farm. Dennis Pyle served one term in the Kansas House and currently serves in the Kansas Senate, District 1. Dennis attended Hiawatha High School, where he was a member of the National Honor Society and participated in various sports. He also attended Grace College of the Bible in Omaha, NE.
